A new type of leadership to shape Catholic schools across the Archdiocese of Birmingham for generations to come.
Catholic schools see each pupil the unique image and likeness of God. It is the education and formation of each individual which the Catholic school cherishes and sets out to nurture so that they may live life to the full.
Success at every level is a joint effort, between parents, parishes, teachers, directors, trustees, administrators and our entire Catholic and wider Community in order to educate our children in a manner that is permeated by the Catholic faith.
We are, however, at an important juncture in the delivery of education across the Archdiocese. The academy programme offers a unique opportunity for our community to take real strategic ownership of our schools and how we deliver a Catholic education in the very broadest of senses.
We are already proud to celebrate the achievements of schools across 18 Multi Academy Companies (MACs), but there is more that can be done. That is why we have developed a new post, the Catholic Senior Executive Leader, to lead these MACs.
This is a CEO level position in terms of governance and structure, but the job description goes beyond that. It is about delivering a Catholic strategy, a Catholic ethos and a collective approach to enable our children and our faith to thrive.
With so many strong headteachers, principals, and school improvement leaders across the Archdiocese, a CSEL need not be an "educationalist". It is a post that is about embracing the outlook of the Church on education and being able to develop a strategic vision which fosters a spirit of communion amongst the schools and a shared purpose of mission. The post demands some one with a range of skills from a variety of professional backgrounds and does not always need to include direct experience in schools and classrooms.
In short, I believe it is a new, innovative and exciting post that can help shape our community for generations to come.
Fr Jonathan Veasey
Lead Trustee for Education
Each CSEL will be critical to the mission of the Diocesan Education Services - which is to announce the joy of the Gospel by making Christ known today through securing, protecting and improving the provision of Catholic Education in the Archdiocese of Birmingham.
We are looking for individuals to lead our MACs who are blessed with strong leadership, strategic overview, financial acumen and the Catholic faith. They must be able to bring the best out of our academy leaders, not lead the academies themselves.
In the first instance, if you have any questions about the role or would like a confidential and informal chat, please do not hesitate to get in touch by contacting Helen Stevenson at Satis Education on helen@satiseducation.co.uk or 07729 024 631.
